About the role

At Research Medical Center, Cardiac Telemetry nurses assess acute changes in patients, monitor and analyze heart rhythms, interpret ECGs, note arrhythmias, and intervene in emergency situations. Our 58-bed cardiac telemetry unit cares for patients recovering from open heart surgeries, heart catheterization with stent placement, ablations, pacemaker/AICD placement, cardiovascular surgeries, and serves as a comprehensive stroke/STEMI facility.

Types of patients we care for

  • Acute and chronic heart failure
  • Electrophysiology (pacemaker, ablation)
  • Structural heart (mitral clip, TAVR, TMVR, Watchman, valve angioplasty)
  • Post-operative day one open heart surgery patients
  • Post cardiac catheterization

  • One of the few hospitals outside the ICU caring for patients receiving the TAVR procedure

Working in the cardiac progressive care units builds critical thinking and clinical skills. Nurses typically progress to ICU, cardiac cath lab, EP lab, or leadership roles within 18–24 months, with leaders actively supporting career goals and facilitating transitions.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current Missouri RN licensure
  • Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • BLS certification required at hire and maintained
  • ACLS required within 6 months
  • Previous clinical experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills
