Role Overview
The RN Clinical Charge Nurse leads and supervises daily unit operations to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. They practice collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, managing patient assignments, staffing, and resource planning. They are responsible for evaluating care quality through patient rounds, overseeing the nursing process, and promoting evidence-based practices. The role involves coordinating interdisciplinary communication, supporting staff development, and participating in performance improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient assignments, staffing, and resource utilization.
- Conduct patient rounds to assess care quality and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary communication, including physician rounds and team planning.
- Support staff development through mentorship and modeling professional nursing standards.
- Participate in quality improvement, research, and evidence-based practice activities.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational policies.
- Assist in operational tasks such as bed management, resource planning, and protocol development.
Qualifications & Skills
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing; certification in specialty area preferred.
- Valid RN license and current BLS certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year nursing experience; 2+ years as relief charge preferred.
- Strong clinical, communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in technology and documentation systems.
