Role Overview
The RN Clinical Charge Nurse oversees daily unit operations, ensuring safe and high-quality patient care. They provide clinical leadership, manage staff assignments, and coordinate resources, including staffing and equipment, to support optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Make patient assignments considering patient needs and staff capabilities.
- Perform daily patient rounds to evaluate care quality and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with physicians, care managers, and team members to develop protocols and improve outcomes.
- Manage bed flow, discharge planning, and staffing during surges or shortages.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary communication, ensure documentation accuracy, and promote a respectful, inclusive environment.
- Support performance improvement initiatives, participate in research, and uphold evidence-based practices.
- Serve as a preceptor or mentor for nursing staff and students, fostering professional development.
Qualifications & Skills
- Current RN license, knowledgeable of nursing standards, ethics, and scope of practice.
