Role Overview

The RN Clinical Charge Nurse oversees daily unit operations, ensuring safe and high-quality patient care. They provide clinical leadership, manage staff assignments, and coordinate resources, including staffing and equipment, to support optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make patient assignments considering patient needs and staff capabilities.
  • Perform daily patient rounds to evaluate care quality and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, care managers, and team members to develop protocols and improve outcomes.
  • Manage bed flow, discharge planning, and staffing during surges or shortages.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary communication, ensure documentation accuracy, and promote a respectful, inclusive environment.
  • Support performance improvement initiatives, participate in research, and uphold evidence-based practices.
  • Serve as a preceptor or mentor for nursing staff and students, fostering professional development.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Current RN license, knowledgeable of nursing standards, ethics, and scope of practice.
  • Strong clinical expertise with a focus on safety, quality, and patient-centered care.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and leadership skills to manage staff and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
