About the Unit

We are a 13-bed unit with 4 overflow antepartum rooms, 2 OR suites, and a new 4-bed OB-ED. We provide 24/7 coverage by a Hospitalist and a dedicated group of physicians. The unit cares for laboring mothers, preterm mothers greater than 20 weeks, and postpartum mothers needing readmission. Our goal is to adhere to AWHONN standards with staffing ratios that ensure:

  • 1:2 for laboring patients
  • 1:1 for active labor or C-section
  • 1:3 for antepartum patients
  • 1:4 for triage/OB-ED

We deliver patient-centered care through a collaborative healthcare team focused on the well-being of mother and baby.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during the shift.
  • Provides clinical care as needed when census demands.
  • Communicates patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leaders.
  • Serves as a resource for guidance and assistance to the staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a nursing program (minimum education required).
  • New graduates of a nursing program are eligible.
  • Current license in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License (required by law).
  • BLS certification required.

Additional Qualifications

  • For PRN positions: One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting is required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Advanced certification in the field of specialty, if applicable.

Nursing experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
