Charge Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Summary The RN Charge Nurse provides leadership, clinical expertise and supervision on their shift, ensuring optimal patient care and resource management. They assess patients holistically, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and revise individualized care plans, and coordinate care delivery by delegating tasks appropriately. They evaluate patient responses, promote professionalism among staff, and ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards. The role involves staffing estimation, resource allocation, conflict mediation, and enforcing policies to maintain safety, quality, and efficiency. Additional responsibilities include participating in quality improvement initiatives, supporting staff development, and activating emergency protocols when necessary. The position requires current RN licensure, BLS certification, clinical experience, mentoring skills, and a BSN (or commitment to obtain one within four years).
