Chaplain Resident - 2nd Year
About the role
Participates in the Riverside Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Residency training program. Prepares written material, completes assigned reading and demonstrates understanding of didactic material while working appropriately under the guidance of ACPE Certified Educator in individual and group experiences. Engages to meet the spiritual, religious, and emotional needs of patients, families, and team members conducting self in manner which is congruent with cultural humility, diversity, equity, and inclusion principal and provides leadership to first year Residents.
Responsibilities
- Provides timely spiritual care to patients and members of their families in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members to understand and determine care/treatment, length, type and purpose to the situation.
- Provides appropriate intervention in emergency situations to patients, families, and staff; and referrals to other spiritual care staff, community clergy and/or congregations when appropriate.
- When on duty in house, must respond at beside for deaths, traumas and code blue within 10 minutes of the page.
- When on call, must be on site within 30 minutes of the page.
- Works with Staff Chaplain, Interns, Community Clergy and Churches/Synagogues/Mosques/Places of worship in a professional and mutually acceptable manner.
- Provides on call coverage for one shift per week with holiday and some weekend coverage.
- Charts in electronic medical record for all patient visits immediately after each visit.
- Keeps recorded record when on call in the logbook in the Staff Chaplain Office to ensure a good hand off to the next chaplain.
- Uses New Innovation to record time in office, education, clinical time, and EIB/PTO daily.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree (Required)
- Program Graduate, Completed 4 units of CPE through ACPE or approved Cognate Groups (CASC, NAJC, NACC, etc.) (Required)
- Masters Degree, Divinity or Equivalent (Preferred)
- 1 year Residency Program (Required)
- 1 year Experience at a Hospital, Parish or Related Field (Preferred)

Pay
Hiring Range $47,500.00 - $50,000.00/Annual Actual pay is determined by program, and business needs
