Responsibilities
- Lead the daily financial direction of the community health center team, offering hands-on guidance and executive-level oversight across core finance functions.
- Advise leadership on healthcare reimbursement matters, including the financial impact of third-party payer activity and related accounting considerations.
- Strengthen oversight of revenue cycle performance by supporting processes tied to billing, collections, reimbursement, and financial reporting.
- Provide senior-level support for audit readiness, coordinate required documentation, and act as a key finance partner throughout the audit process.
- Oversee financial activities connected to federally funded healthcare programs, including grant-related funding flows and associated reporting obligations.
- Ensure sound financial management of specialized community health center programs such as 340B pharmacy operations and other safety-net initiatives.
- Interpret and monitor regulatory requirements affecting clinic-based healthcare organizations and incorporate them into financial controls and reporting practices.
- Contribute expertise in month-end and quarter-end financial processes, cash flow monitoring, and broader fiscal planning to maintain operational stability during the assignment.
Requirements
- Proven experience serving in a senior finance leadership role such as CFO or equivalent within a healthcare organization.
- Strong background in healthcare finance with direct knowledge of clinic or ambulatory operations; community health center experience is preferred over hospital-only experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of third-party payer reimbursement, revenue cycle operations, and the downstream accounting effects tied to collections and payment activity.
- Experience supporting audits, maintaining financial controls, and working within regulated healthcare compliance environments.
- Familiarity with financial reporting, cash flow analysis, capital management, and period-end close activities.
- Knowledge of federally supported healthcare funding, grant administration, regulatory reporting, or programs such as 340B is highly desirable.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should bring deep healthcare finance expertise, particularly in outpatient or clinic-based settings, and can guide critical financial operations with confidence during a 3+ month engagement.
