About the role

We are looking for an experienced Part Time Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic financial leadership for a contract engagement based in Sanford, Maine. This role will oversee core finance operations, strengthen reporting accuracy, and guide capital planning to support sound business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, hands-on leadership, and the ability to improve financial processes and business systems in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization’s financial strategy by aligning budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning with operational goals.
  • Direct cash flow monitoring and analysis to maintain liquidity, identify risks, and support informed decision-making.
  • Oversee capital management activities, including allocation planning and evaluation of financial resources to support business priorities.
  • Manage the month-end close process to ensure timely completion, accurate reconciliations, and reliable financial results.
  • Produce and review financial reports that provide clear insight into performance, trends, and areas requiring attention.
  • Partner with senior leadership to interpret financial data, recommend actions, and support overall business performance.
  • Assess and enhance business systems and financial workflows to improve efficiency, controls, and reporting capabilities.
  • Maintain strong internal financial oversight by supporting compliance, consistency, and sound accounting practices.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in senior financial leadership, preferably in a Chief Financial Officer or equivalent executive finance role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cash flow analysis, capital planning, and financial oversight within a business environment.
  • Strong command of month-end close procedures, financial reporting, and accounting best practices.
  • Experience evaluating and improving business systems that support finance and operational reporting.
  • Ability to translate complex financial information into practical recommendations for leadership stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage priorities, drive accountability, and support cross-functional decision-making.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills in a fast-paced setting.
