Certified Senior Medical Assistant - Primary Care (West Houston)
About the role
The Certified Senior Medical Assistant position at Houston Methodist Primary Care Group is responsible for providing comprehensive support to primary care providers in managing the care of patients with complex, chronic diseases. This role requires a minimum of five years of medical assistant experience with a focus on highly complex, chronic disease management or a specialty discipline.
Responsibilities
- Prepares patients for examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, chief complaints, and reviewing medical and social histories.
- Administers medications and reviews patient medication lists.
- Assists with diagnostic testing and treatments, including EKGs, rapid strep tests, urinalyses, and urine pregnancy tests.
- Cleans and sterilizes medical equipment and maintains exam and treatment rooms.
- Coordinates patient care with hospital, emergency departments, consulting physicians, and community resources.
- Ensures patient satisfaction and provides feedback to improve departmental performance.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
- A certified medical assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, or Registered Medical Assistant, along with BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

- Demonstrated proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
- Effective verbal communication skills, including the ability to teach and mentor peers.
- Knowledge of medical practices and patient care, including medical equipment and instruments.
- Ability to develop and maintain clinical quality assurance to ensure accurate medical records.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in computer skills for documentation and work-related purposes.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This position is full-time and works a standard day shift schedule.
