Senior Medical Assistant Certified- Surgery (West Houston/Katy)

About the role

The Senior Medical Assistant Certified-Surgery position at Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group is responsible for providing comprehensive support to physicians and managing patient care in a surgical setting. This role requires a minimum of five years of medical assistant experience with a focus on chronic disease management or a specialty discipline.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for surgery by performing pre-operative assessments and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
• Assists with surgical procedures by preparing instruments, sterilizing equipment, and monitoring patient vitals.
• Manages patient flow by scheduling appointments, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring timely follow-ups.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans for patients with complex medical conditions.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and maintains accurate medical records.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, or Registered Medical Assistant.
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA).
• CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA).

Pay

$25.00 - $27.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule
