Certified Senior Medical Assistant - Primary Care (Sugar Land)

About the role

The Certified Senior Medical Assistant position at Houston Methodist Primary Care Group is responsible for providing comprehensive medical support to patients under the supervision of a physician. This role requires a minimum of five years of medical assistant experience with a focus on managing highly complex, chronic disease cases.

Responsibilities

• Pre-visit planning and documentation
• Assisting with patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatment plans
• Medication review and administration
• Documentation of patient vitals, medical history, and treatment details
• Follow-up with patients regarding appointments, test results, and medication adherence
• Coordination with other healthcare providers and community resources
• Ensuring patient satisfaction and departmental quality metrics

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, or Registered Medical Assistant
• BLS - Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
• CPT - Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology
• Five years of medical assistant experience with complex chronic disease management or specialty discipline

Pay

Salary range: $40,000 - $50,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
