About the role
The Senior Medical Assistant Certified-Rheumatology position at Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group is responsible for providing comprehensive support to rheumatology patients under the supervision of a physician. This role requires extensive experience in managing complex, chronic diseases.
Responsibilities
- Prepares patients for examinations and treatments, including pre-visit planning and documentation.
- Assists with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Communicates with patients regarding medical history, medications, and treatment plans.
- Coordinates care with other healthcare providers and external resources.
- Maintains accurate medical records and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participates in departmental initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of medical assistant experience with a focus on chronic disease management or rheumatology.
- Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, Registered Medical Assistant, EMT, and BLS.
- Knowledge of medical practices, equipment, and instruments.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Proficiency in computer systems for documentation and work-related purposes.
