About the role

The Senior Medical Assistant Certified-Rheumatology position at Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group is responsible for providing comprehensive support to rheumatology patients under the supervision of a physician. This role requires extensive experience in managing complex, chronic diseases.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for examinations and treatments, including pre-visit planning and documentation.
  • Assists with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Communicates with patients regarding medical history, medications, and treatment plans.
  • Coordinates care with other healthcare providers and external resources.
  • Maintains accurate medical records and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participates in departmental initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of medical assistant experience with a focus on chronic disease management or rheumatology.
  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, Registered Medical Assistant, EMT, and BLS.
  • Knowledge of medical practices, equipment, and instruments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in computer systems for documentation and work-related purposes.
