Certified Senior Medical Assistant- Primary Care Group (French Quarter/Willowbrook)

About the role

The Certified Senior Medical Assistant position at Houston Methodist Primary Care Group is available in the French Quarter and Willowbrook clinics. This role requires a minimum of five years of medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline. The successful candidate must hold a Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant certification, along with BLS and CPT certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, chief complaints, and reviewing medical and social histories.
  • Administers medications and reviews patient medication lists.
  • Assists with diagnostic procedures and treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Follows up with patients to ensure compliance with recommended care plans, including lab and x-ray results, special visits, and referrals.
  • Coordinates care with hospital, emergency departments, and other healthcare providers as needed.
  • Participates in departmental initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
  • Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant certification.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) certification.
  • CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA) certification.

  • Knowledge of medical practice and care of patients, including medical equipment and instruments.
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining clinical quality assurance to maintain accurate medical records.
  • Ability to solve problems, use good reasoning and judgment.
  • Proficient in computer skills for documentation and work-related purposes.
  • Completes required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers, and the public.
  • Works collaboratively with the interprofessional health care team.
  • Understands the patient population and its relation to the clinical disease process.
  • Keeps patient information confidential and maintains a safe environment.
  • Accurately performs routine tests on patients such as EKG, rapid strep, urinalysis, and urine pregnancy tests.
  • Stretches, cleans, and maintains exam and treatment rooms, as well as supplies and equipment.
  • Manages time effectively and prioritizes daily tasks.
  • Develops and assists in improving skills, performance, and outcomes of team members.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Completes and updates My Development plan on an ongoing basis.

Security Officer

Location: Houston Methodist West Hospital, Houston, TX
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)
Experience: Criminal justice, security or related experience preferred
Licenses and Certifications: Required Security Officer state license: Security Officer Non-Commissioned, submission of application within 14 days of hire.

Sr Surgical Technologist

Location: Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital, Cypress, TX
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.) Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training equivalency
Experience: Two years as a Surgical Technologist
Licenses and Certifications: Required BLS certification.

Registered Nurse II - Medical ICU

Location: Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, Sugar Land, TX
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
Qualifications: Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section
Experience: Twelve months registered nurse experience in a healthcare environment
Licenses and Certifications: Required RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure - NCLEX-RN, BLS certification.
