Certified Senior Medical Assistant- Neurology (Willowbrook)

This position is located at Houston Methodist Willowbrook, a facility dedicated to providing comprehensive neurology services. The role requires a Certified Senior Medical Assistant with extensive experience in managing complex, chronic diseases.
Responsibilities
- Assists in patient examinations and diagnostic procedures
- Prepares patients for examinations and treatments
- Administers medications and monitors patient responses
- Documents patient information accurately in the EMR system
- Coordinates patient care with other healthcare providers
- Ensures patient safety and comfort throughout the visit
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline
- Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant
- BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
- CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA)
Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical practice and care of patients
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers
- Proficiency in computer skills for documentation and work-related purposes
- Advanced assessment competences appropriate for level of practice
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language
- Ability to develop and maintain clinical quality assurance
- Ability to solve problems, use good reasoning and judgment
- Provides safe patient-centered, compassionate and competent care
