Nurse Assistant Training Program
Functions within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel. During clinical rotations, provides basic patient care under the direction and supervision of a clinical educator and nursing staff, including:
- Taking vital signs
- Bathing and dressing patients
- Moving patients and changing linens
- Other duties within scope of practice as directed
Obtains information on patient condition as requested by nursing staff or clinical educator and reports any changes. At the end of training, a competency assessment will be administered to validate learning.
Responsibilities (Certified Nurse Assistant / Nurse Assistant)
Provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff, including:
- Taking vital signs
- Bathing, dressing, and moving patients
- Changing linens
- Other assigned duties
Obtains information on patient condition as requested by nursing staff and reports any changes.
Requirements
Nurse Assistant Training Program
- Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Prior patient care or healthcare-related experience
Certified Nurse Assistant / Nurse Assistant
- Required: One of the following:
- 3 months of experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long-term care setting, EMT, or surgical technologist within the past 3 years
- Completion of an unlicensed assistive personnel program within the past 3 years
- Completion of the “fundamentals of nursing” course with clinical in an accredited nursing or practical nursing education program
- Active Missouri CNA license
- Missouri CNA Appendix (MO CNA license must be obtained within 120 days of hire)
