About the Unit
900 West is a 30-bed adult medical-surgical unit specializing in post-operative care for gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) surgical patients. The unit is recognized as a Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery. It features a combination of private and semi-private rooms designed for comfort and healing. While telemetry or cardiac monitoring is not offered, the team provides high-quality, patient-centered care with a strong emphasis on collaboration and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff
- Perform duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, and changing linens
- Obtain information on patient condition as requested by nursing staff and report any changes
- For trainees: Function within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel
- For trainees: During clinical rotation, perform duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, and changing linens under supervision
- For trainees: Complete a competency assessment at the end of training to validate learning
Requirements
Education
Preferred: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience
For Certified Nurse Assistant/Nurse Assistant:
- 3 months experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long-term care setting, EMT, or Surgical Technologist in the past 3 years, OR
- Completed an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Program within the past 3 years, OR
- Completed the “fundamentals of nursing” course with clinical in an accredited nursing program or practical nursing education program, OR
- Must have Missouri CNA License, OR
- Must have MO CNA Appendix AND MO CNA license must be obtained within 120 days of hire
