About the role

Provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff. Perform duties such as take vitals, bathe, dress, move patients, change linens and other duties as assigned. Obtains information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff, and reports any changes in patient condition.

About the unit

900 is a 30-bed adult medical-surgical unit specializing in post-operative care for gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) surgical patients. The unit is recognized as a Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery. It features a combination of private and semi-private rooms designed for comfort and healing. While telemetry or cardiac monitoring is not offered, the team provides high-quality, patient-centered care with a strong emphasis on collaboration and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Take patient vitals
  • Bathe and dress patients
  • Move patients and change linens
  • Obtain and report information on patient condition as requested by nursing staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (preferred)
  • One of the following experience or certification requirements:
    • 3 months experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long-term care setting, EMT, or Surgical Technologist in the past 3 years
    • Completed an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Program within the past 3 years
    • Completed the “fundamentals of nursing” course with clinical in an accredited nursing program or practical nursing education program
    • Missouri CNA License
    • MO CNA Appendix (MO CNA license must be obtained within 120 days of hire)
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days

Pay

Includes a $3 shift differential for night shift.

Schedule

36 scheduled weekly hours, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM, night shift.

Nurse Assistant Training Program

Functions within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel. During clinical rotation, provides basic patient care under direction and supervision of clinical educator and nursing staff. Duties may include taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, and changing linens. Obtains and reports information on patient condition as requested. At the end of the training, a competency assessment will be administered to validate learning.

Certified Nurse Assistant, Nurse Assistant, or Nurse Assistant Trainees are eligible to apply.
