About the Role
The Medication Assistant (MA) provides resident-centered nursing care and assistance with daily activities under supervision. They deliver age-appropriate care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, vital signs, psycho-social support, and personal care. The MA assists with transfers, repositioning, and exercises, and supports residents during meals and snacks, ensuring a positive dining experience. They administer prescribed medications delegated by licensed nurses, document care outcomes, and communicate changes or concerns.
Additional duties include collecting non-invasive specimens, maintaining cleanliness, supporting wellness programs, and participating in departmental initiatives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred; minimum age 18 preferred.
- Prior clinical or long-term care experience is advantageous.
- Must complete competency testing and maintain ongoing education credits annually, including required certifications.
- Depending on the state, CNA and medication aide certifications are required and must be maintained.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance may be necessary.
