Certified Medical Assistant - Pediatrics - Maywood

Full-time, day shift position (Monday through Friday) in our Pediatric clinic at the main campus in Maywood. This role involves 5 eight-hour shifts per week.

About the role

Loyola Medicine, a nationally ranked academic, quaternary care system based in Chicago's western suburbs, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) who is a great team player and patient-centered, with a passion for working with pediatric patients and their families. The CMA utilizes a defined skill set to deliver direct care to patients in the ambulatory setting under the direct supervision/licensure of a physician. This role is integral to the healthcare team, coordinating pre/intra/post aspects of the medical visit, including direct care, registration & scheduling, physician-patient communication, and other office-related tasks. The CMA also administers medication and collaborates with other healthcare professionals and ancillary services to coordinate care.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to patients and supports physicians throughout the entire visit, from arrival at the reception desk to check-out.
• Conducts history taking, assists with routine tasks and procedures, manages telephone messaging, scheduling, and follow-up orders.
• Works under the supervision of a registered professional nurse when additional skill, assessment, or expertise is required, or in the absence of the physician.

Requirements

• High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education.
• Successful completion of an accredited medical assistant program.
• Must possess at least one of the following Medical Assistant credentials within six (6) months of hire:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
• CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association – required upon hire.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Administrative or technical background acquired through completion of 2-3 years of college.
• Minimum Experience Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience.
• Highly Preferred: Previous experience giving immunizations and ambulatory experience in primary or specialty settings.

Pay

Pay Range: $18.16 - $28.14 per hour. Actual compensation will fall within this range and may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
