About the role

Pediatric Healthcare Associates is an independent pediatric group providing patient-centered, evidence-based, quality care for our patients, from infancy through young adulthood, through compassion, collaboration, and open communication with their families and our community. We are seeking a full-time Medical Assistant (MA) to join our dedicated team.

Responsibilities

  • Complete medication and medical prior authorizations for procedures and referrals.
  • Maintain and record daily lab controls and refrigerator/freezer temperatures.
  • Check oxygen tanks weekly and develop, implement, and maintain control reports for quality assurance.
  • Room patients and complete all intakes for patients, including documenting chief complaints, history of present illness, review of systems, past health history, allergies, medications, and vitals.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by the physician, reviewing charts for immunizations, blood work, hearing, and vision.
  • Arrange appointments with specialists and follow up on tests as needed.
  • Process pre-certification requests for medicines as needed.
  • Perform various in-office testing, such as vision, hearing, and spirometry.
  • Store and handle vaccines appropriately according to protocols.
  • Comply with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
  • Keep work areas clean and orderly.
  • Answer phones in the clinical area.
  • Comply with all PHA policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Must be certified Medical Assistant with a current certification in good standing in the State of Connecticut.
  • Previous Medical Assistant experience in pediatrics is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
  • Knowledge of EHR software is preferred.

Pay

Salary range: $40,000 - $50,000 annually.

Schedule

Full-time position requiring 30 to 37.5 hours per week, day shifts, evenings, and possible weekends and holidays as needed. Shift differentials are offered for evening, weekend, and holiday work.
