Make a difference with our Infusion team! Located on the 5th floor of the Adult Outpatient Pavilion, the Infusion Clinic provides vital care to oncology patients and other medical patients with acuity ranges from well-managed chronic conditions to acutely ill.

About the role

The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care, emotional support, and problem solving under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager, and/or RN in accordance with hospital, nursing, and unit policy/procedure.
  • Handle, transport, access, and/or contact with medications and related supplies.
  • Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor for time/schedule changes, legal issues, directed care which deviates from standard, and identifying educational resources to meet developmental needs.

Requirements

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association (e.g., American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, National Association of Healthcare Professions, American Registry of Medical Assistants, or National Healthcare Association).
  • AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program. No work experience required if a graduate of a medical assistant program.
  • Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, email, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Previous experience in an academic healthcare environment.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

Schedule

  • Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager.
  • Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work, may be adjusted as necessary to meet clinic requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical: Lifting 20-50 lbs, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive).
  • Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading, logical thinking.
  • Emotional: Fast-paced environment, ability to handle multiple priorities, ability to adapt to frequent change.

Pay

Compensation Grade Range: $19.00 - $28.51 per hour. Actual salary offers will be based on several key factors, including relevant work experience, credentials, and qualifications.
