About the role
The VCU Massey Center at the new Adult Outpatient Pavilion offers comprehensive outpatient cancer services including hematology, medical, surgical, and radiation oncology clinics. We are an NCI Cancer Center that provides clinical trials, cutting-edge treatments, enhanced imaging, and other comprehensive treatment options. Our clinics feature shared spaces to support multidisciplinary collaboration and promote the best possible care and treatment options for our patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct, age-specific care to patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician.
- Handle, transport, and access medications and related supplies as required.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient-centered care.
- Support the management of patient care activities, including scheduling, documentation, and communication.
- Assist with administrative tasks as directed by supervisors.
Requirements
- Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements: Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association.
- Experience: One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if individual is not a graduate of a medical assistant program. Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study such as CAAHEP or ABHES preferred.
Qualifications

- Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft Office and e-mail.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to frequent changes.

Benefits
Compensation range: $19.00 - $28.51 per hour. Actual salary offers will be based on several key factors including relevant work experience, credentials, and qualifications.
