Certified Medical Assistant - Oncology Clinic

About the role

The Certified Medical Assistant at Hollings Cancer Center Clinic supports a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care. They assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, preparing treatment rooms, and performing other tasks as directed.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information into patients' medical records.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Assists in obtaining EKGs and room turnover.
• Supports the primary clinical team during patient visits.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited medical assistant program with six months of CMA/RMA experience required.
• Certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Health career Association (NHA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Qualifications

Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
