Responsibilities
- Performs related assignments and tasks to promote positive visitor, family, and staff relations.
- Provides high quality patient care in a caring and compassionate manner.
- Reports any observed changes in patient condition or behavior promptly to the nurse.
- Ensures patient care tasks are completed timely.
- Performs or assists with duties as outlined in the CNA Scope of Practice under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment for patient and staff according to hospital and unit policies.
- Demonstrates competence in providing care routines in accordance with established nursing care procedures to ensure patients' comfort and safety.
- Takes and records vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and other measurements as applicable, in an accurate and timely manner.
- Reports all variations from normal to the RN in charge of the patient.
- Obtains finger stick blood glucose as delegated by the RN unless working in an area where this is prohibited.
- Prepares patients for meals, assists in feeding patients (if necessary), distributes fresh water and other nourishment according to patients’ needs.
- Ambulates/Transfers patients using proper body mechanics and patient safety techniques.
- Affixes nurse in treatment procedures as needed.
- Documents accurately and timely in the patient medical record.
- Participates in quality improvement programs.
- Adheres to Confluence Health and Central Washington Hospital/Wenatchee Valley Hospital policies and unit standards as applicable.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Active WA certified CNA license.
- Eligible to obtain Medical Assistant registered certification where applicable (application completed during the hiring process).
- Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication, and password management.
