Coming Soon to Chesterfield! Located at 10031 Nash Road, VCU Health Chesterfield Pavilion will be a four-story, approximately 100,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center and medical office building, bringing comprehensive, patient-centered outpatient care closer to residents in one of Virginia’s largest counties. Scheduled to open in April 2027, the state-of-the-art facility will bring together surgical services, diagnostics, infusion therapy, pharmacy services, innovative care models, and more in a single, convenient location for Chesterfield residents. The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician.

Responsibilities

• Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
• Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor for time/schedule changes, legal issues, directed care which deviates from standard, and identifying educational resources to meet developmental needs.
• Handles, transports, accesses, and/or contacts medications and related supplies.
• Works all three shifts, weekends and holidays; individual shift rotation and schedules established with Nurse Manager/Practice Manager; schedules may be adjusted as needed to meet clinic requirements.

Requirements

• Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association (e.g., American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, National Association of Healthcare Professions, American Registry of Medical Assistants, National Healthcare Association).
