About the Role
As a Certified Medical Assistant II, you will help patients' physical well-being under a doctor's guidance. This role emphasizes teamwork and a positive learning atmosphere in a pediatric setting.
Responsibilities
- Offer help during patient examinations and treatments, under the guidance of a physician.
- Set up treatment rooms for patient examinations and ensure their cleanliness post-procedure.
- Accompany patients from the waiting area and prepare them for their examination.
- Conduct patient interviews to obtain medical information and document it in their medical history.
- Take and record patient vital signs.
- Carry out routine patient tests, process electrocardiograms, and collect specimen samples.
- Administer medications as instructed by a physician.
- Change dressings and remove sutures and staples.
- Undertake administrative tasks like answering calls and scheduling appointments.
- Promote team productivity through huddles and meetings, and assist in the mentoring and training of staff members.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- A minimum of two years of professional experience.
- Experience with Pediatrics is a plus.
- Obtain a Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) within 30 days of joining.
- Must be a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from one of the following:
- Nat Cert Med Asst (NCMA) from NCCT
- Cert Med Asst (CMA) from AAMA or ARMA
- Cert Cln Med Asst (CCMA) from NHA
- Reg Med Asst (RMA) from AMT, AAMP, or AAH
- Nat Reg Cert Med Asst (NRCMA) from NAHP
- Cln Med Asst Cert (CMAC) from AMCA
Key Success Factors
- Understanding of safe medical practice and precise medication administration.
- Aptitude for documenting patient information accurately.
- Capacity to monitor patients' overall physical health and report any abnormal findings.
- Proficiency in administering injections and drawing blood.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Exceptional patient care skills, including a comforting bedside manner.
- Ability to adhere closely to instructions given by physicians.
- Experience with medical charts and records.
