About the Role

As a Certified Medical Assistant II, you will help patients' physical well-being under a doctor's guidance. This role emphasizes teamwork and a positive learning atmosphere in a pediatric setting.

Responsibilities

  • Offer help during patient examinations and treatments, under the guidance of a physician.
  • Set up treatment rooms for patient examinations and ensure their cleanliness post-procedure.
  • Accompany patients from the waiting area and prepare them for their examination.
  • Conduct patient interviews to obtain medical information and document it in their medical history.
  • Take and record patient vital signs.
  • Carry out routine patient tests, process electrocardiograms, and collect specimen samples.
  • Administer medications as instructed by a physician.
  • Change dressings and remove sutures and staples.
  • Undertake administrative tasks like answering calls and scheduling appointments.
  • Promote team productivity through huddles and meetings, and assist in the mentoring and training of staff members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience.
  • Experience with Pediatrics is a plus.
  • Obtain a Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) within 30 days of joining.
  • Must be a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from one of the following:
    • Nat Cert Med Asst (NCMA) from NCCT
    • Cert Med Asst (CMA) from AAMA or ARMA
    • Cert Cln Med Asst (CCMA) from NHA
    • Reg Med Asst (RMA) from AMT, AAMP, or AAH
    • Nat Reg Cert Med Asst (NRCMA) from NAHP
    • Cln Med Asst Cert (CMAC) from AMCA

Key Success Factors

  • Understanding of safe medical practice and precise medication administration.
  • Aptitude for documenting patient information accurately.
  • Capacity to monitor patients' overall physical health and report any abnormal findings.
  • Proficiency in administering injections and drawing blood.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Exceptional patient care skills, including a comforting bedside manner.
  • Ability to adhere closely to instructions given by physicians.
  • Experience with medical charts and records.
