Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Outpatient Clinics

Foundation Health Partners is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our patient-centered healthcare team. In this role, the CMA will provide high-quality clinical and administrative support to providers and patients across a variety of healthcare settings. Available Departments

• Porter Heart & Vascular Center – Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5x8 hour day shifts, M-F
• Pediatrics – Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5x8 hour day shifts, M-SP
• Internal Medicine/Senior Care Clinic – Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5x8 hour day shifts, M-F
• Behavioral Health Clinic – Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5x8 hour day shifts, M-F
• Family Medicine – Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5x8 hour day shifts, M-F
• 1st Care Clinic – Full-time, 36 hours per week, 3x12 hour day shifts
• Addiction Medicine – Full-time, 30 hours per week, 3x10 hour day shifts, Tues, Thurs, Fri
• RN (per diem) available

Responsibilities

• Assist clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care as well as implementing and evaluating direct patient care
• Prepare patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements and recording chief complaint; documents pain scores as appropriate
• Report condition of patient which may be indicative of change in the patient's condition to the clinician
• Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including taking patients' blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, ear irrigation, and performing EKG's
• Act as chaperon as needed
• Use universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times and personal protective equipment as needed
• Prioritize patient flow through clinical process
• Coordinate and manage patient care including pre-certifications, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling of patients
• Communicate test results to patient
• Act as a resource to clinician to provide optimal patient care
• Administer medications in accordance with established policies and procedures or as directed
• Provide clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation, which may include completing medical records, labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records, and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit
• Provide complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion
• Maintain a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas
• Disinfect equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures
• Follow manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances
• Perform basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs
• Order supplies and stock patient care areas
• Monitor inventory including medication/injectables and immunizations (e.g. expired medications/equipment and recalls)
• Develop and maintain an effective communication mechanism with all external and internal customers
• Exemplify service orientation and behaviors in all contacts
• Complete all necessary on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training, as needed or directed
• Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards
• Provide all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
• Knowledge as normally obtained through graduation from an Accredited Medical Assisting Program
• Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations
• Medical Assistant Certification or Medical Assistant Registration is required
• Current BLS certification
• All direct patient care personnel are required to demonstrate competent performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS) techniques for adults, children and infants according to the standards of a nationally recognized, standardized, credentialed healthcare provider course every other year
• Skills and abilities typically attained with 1 year of medical clerical experience, preferably in a hospital or physician office setting, or prior experience in customer service
• Must possess excellent organizational skills as well as effective human relations and communication skills
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy and keyboarding skills is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent healthcare experience preferred
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred

Pay & Benefits

• Compensation: $21.07 to $30.34 hourly wage based on experience and education
• Retention Bonus: $10,000 for 2 years
