Responsibilities
- Escort patients to exam rooms
- Interview patients
- Measure vital signs including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature
- Document all information in patient’s chart
- Assist RN, LPN, and medical providers by promptly reporting changes in the patient’s condition
- Initiate emergency measures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation appropriate to skill level, and assist with retrieving emergency medical equipment as necessary
- Assist medical providers in examination of patients by explaining procedures, positioning the patient, assembling, arranging, and draping instruments and gathering supplies
- Perform Nebulizer treatments
- Administer non-controlled medications orally, topically, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, or intradermally
- Give 12 lead electrocardiogram (EKG) report to RN and/or medical provider
- Perform throat cultures and laboratory sample collection
- Perform Ear irrigation
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required
- Assist with administrative tasks such as answering patient telephone calls and scheduling appointments
- Perform other duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the department
