About the role
Novant Health Oceanside Family Medicine is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team. As a CMA, you'll be at the heart of the patient journey, providing both clinical and administrative support to ensure every patient receives outstanding care. You'll play a key role in helping our team deliver remarkable healthcare by building meaningful connections with patients and supporting their healthcare journey.
Responsibilities
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and patient care activities
- Maintain accurate patient records, referrals, and EMR documentation
- Support front-office operations including scheduling, registration, and insurance verification
- Obtain vital signs, assist with procedures, administer medications and immunizations, and perform laboratory duties
- Reinforce patient education and care plans to promote positive health outcomes
- Collaborate with a supportive, team-oriented healthcare environment focused on excellence
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, required
- Current certification from one of the approved certifying registries:
- CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA)
- RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA)
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- American Allied Health (AAH)
- RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
- If not currently certified, must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of hire and sign an education agreement
- Previous work in a medical office, preferred
- Current State Driver’s License (Palliative Care Only), required
- Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing
