Certified Medical Assistant, CMA- Internal Medicine

About the role

Novant Health Oceanside Family Medicine is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team. As a CMA, you'll be at the heart of the patient journey, providing both clinical and administrative support to ensure every patient receives outstanding care. You'll play a key role in helping our team deliver remarkable healthcare by building meaningful connections with patients and supporting their healthcare journey.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and patient care activities
• Maintain accurate patient records, referrals, and EMR documentation
• Support front-office operations including scheduling, registration, and insurance verification
• Obtain vital signs, assist with procedures, administer medications and immunizations, and perform laboratory duties
• Reinforce patient education and care plans to promote positive health outcomes
• Collaborate with a supportive, team-oriented healthcare environment focused on excellence

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED, required
• Current certification from one of the approved certifying registries:
  • CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA)
  • RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • American Allied Health (AAH)
  • RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
• If not currently certified, must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of hire and sign an education agreement
• Previous work in a medical office, preferred
• Current State Driver’s License (Palliative Care Only), required
• Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing
