About the Role
As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at Novant Health Autumn Hall, you'll be at the heart of the patient journey, providing both clinical and administrative support to ensure every patient receives outstanding care. You'll play a key role in helping our team deliver remarkable healthcare by building meaningful connections with patients, assisting providers with examinations and procedures, and supporting front-office operations.
Responsibilities
- Build meaningful connections with patients and support their healthcare journey
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and patient care activities
- Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, and other clinical laboratory responsibilities
- Maintain accurate patient records, referrals, and EMR documentation
- Support front-office operations including scheduling, registration, and insurance verification
- Reinforce patient education and care plans to promote positive health outcomes
- Administer immunizations and assist with other clinical tasks
- Collaborate with a supportive, team-oriented healthcare environment focused on excellence
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, required
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program; curriculum must include pharmacology and medication administration
- Certification/registry must be obtained by the last day of the sixth month of hire (accepted certifications: CMA with AAMA, CCMA with NHA, RMA with AMT, NHCWA, NCCT, NAHP, AAH, or ARMA)
- Alternative work experience may qualify for eligibility to take NHA, ARMA, NHCWA, NCCT, NAHP, or AMT exams if not already certified or registered on hire:
- Minimum of 1 year (NHA or NHCWA) within the last 3 years
- Minimum of 2 years (NCCT, NAHP)
- Minimum of 3 years (ARMA)
- Minimum of 5 years (AMT) within the last 7 years (with no more than 2 years as an instructor)
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing (experience must include both clinical and administrative duties)
- Previous work in a medical office, preferred
- Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA, or CCMA, required
- Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing
- Bilingual preferred
