About the role
Duke Primary Care Hillsborough Family Practice is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our dedicated team. Located in Hillsborough, NC, we offer a wide range of services including family, adolescent, and internal medicine, urgent care, general pediatric care, and virtual care.
Responsibilities
- Collections medical histories and vital signs
- Assists with patient care, including examinations, procedures, and lab tests
- Supports administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, patient check-out, and form completion
- Handles prescription refills and performs other clinical duties as assigned
- Coordinates hospital admissions, lab services, and updates medical records
- Completes forms, manages billing tasks, and handles correspondence
- Orders supplies and assists with clinic activities and committees
Requirements
- Level I: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program, high school diploma/GED
- Level II: Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES, high school diploma/GED
- Level III: Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES, high school diploma/GED
- Level I: No experience required
- Level II: At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant
- Level III: At least 3 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant
Qualifications
- Level I: Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA required, BLS required
- Level II: Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA required, BLS required
- Level III: Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA required, BLS required
Skills and Abilities
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to lift heavy items and assist with transporting patients
- Knowledge of sterile techniques and procedures
- Understanding of sanitation, personal hygiene, and basic health and safety practices
- Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety measures
- Documenting and communicating information clearly
- Typing skills and knowledge of medical terminology
Pay
$19.50 - $22.50 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday
