This part-time Certified Medical Assistant position is located at our Frisco - Ambulatory Surgical Center, with two possible schedules: Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm (24-28 hours a week) or Monday - Friday, 8:00am-3:00pm (30 hours a week).
Responsibilities
- Manages clinic throughput and flow of patient-room utilization
- Assists with patient intake, measures vital signs, and reviews medication lists; takes medical and surgical histories
- Prepares and disinfects exam rooms prior to each patient visit
- Ensures adequate supplies and appropriate instruments are available in clinics
- Schedules diagnostic tests or imaging
- May participate in specimen collection and processing
- May remove casts and splints
- May perform venipuncture
- Accountable for meeting the standards of patient/personal safety and in maintaining a clean and therapeutic environment
- Assists clinic staff with administrative needs
- Maintains patient information and documentation in electronic medical record
- Abides by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patient rights
- Supports hospital and departmental performance improvement goals
- Supports quality care through compliance with departmental and organizational policies and guidelines, and external agency guidelines, standards, or regulations
- Supports departmental initiatives and change efforts
- Practices financial and resource stewardship
- Engages in strong communication, acts as team player in supporting mission and vision of organization, and abides by organization’s core values
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certified or registered Medical Assistant required
- BLS certification required
- Applicable work experience preferred
Working Environment
This position involves working inside, with requirements including sitting, standing, and walking.
Physical demands include light to medium physical activity, with lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling, repetitive movement, and stooping/kneeling/bending.
The individual in this position will be required to lift or carry weight of 11-24lbs and will be exposed to inside environment, bloodborne pathogens, chemical hazards, and respiratory hazards.
Sensory/communicative activities essential to the performance of this position include feeling, hearing, seeing, smelling, and speaking.
