About the Role
Penn Medicine is seeking a compassionate and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join the Abramson Cancer Center in Valley Forge. This opportunity is intended for candidates who are interested in transitioning to a full-time Penn Medicine employee following the contract assignment.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and document vital signs.
- Perform EKGs.
- Room patients and prepare them for provider visits.
- Update and maintain patient charts in Epic (PennChart).
- Answer clinical phone calls and patient messages.
- Assist with stress testing as needed.
- Provide excellent patient care in an oncology setting.
- Maintain a compassionate, professional, and patient-centered approach.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting.
- Epic (PennChart) experience is required.
- Comfortable working with oncology/cancer patients.
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing situations.
- Compassionate, friendly, and dependable with a strong work ethic.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
- Must be able to commute to the practice within 30 minutes (location is not accessible by public transportation).
- Must be interested in converting to a full-time Penn Medicine employee.
- Local candidates only.
- Must disclose:
- Previous employment with Penn Medicine (dates, position, and reason for leaving).
- Whether they have previously applied directly to Penn Medicine or are currently interviewing with Penn.
- Whether they are currently working with other staffing agencies or have already been submitted for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual candidates are strongly preferred.
Schedule
Monday through Friday
8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
30-minute unpaid lunch
40 hours/week
Training
PennChart training (4 hours) conducted on Fridays.
