About the Role

Medical Assistants at TOA play a vital role in clinic operations, partnering with clinical and administrative teams to ensure excellent patient service. This position requires a compassionate, patient-focused approach and a commitment to smooth clinic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Politely escort patients from the waiting room to exam rooms.
• Take patient medical histories, obtain chief complaints, record vital signs, and prepare patients for examination and treatment.
• Review patient charts and files for completeness.
• Prepare equipment and supplies for clinical procedures, including aspirations, injections, and X-rays.
• Administer injections, remove casts, splints, and dressings as directed by physicians.
• Prepare prescriptions as directed by physicians.
• Assist with scheduling tests and treatments.
• Coordinate patient surgeries, including scheduling, insurance coverage, and pre-certification.
• Respond to patient and payor phone calls.
• Order and maintain clinical and office supplies and equipment.
• Maintain patient files in the EHR and document as necessary.
• Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.

Requirements

• Current and unencumbered Medical Assistant (MA) certification through a sanctioned third-party (e.g., The American Registry of Medical Assistants, National Healthcareer Association, American Association of Medical Assistants, National Center for Competency Testing, or American Medical Technologists).
• At least one year of experience working as a medical assistant; orthopaedic experience is a plus.
• Exceptional focus on patient experience, with a passion for providing compassionate care.
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and able to manage patient flow efficiently without compromising care quality.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing daily priorities.
• Dependable, with the ability to maintain consistent attendance.
• Current CPR certification.
