Novant Health Urology is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team! As a CMA, you'll be at the heart of the patient journey, providing both clinical and administrative support to ensure every patient receives outstanding care. From welcoming patients and obtaining vital signs to assisting with procedures, administering medications and immunizations, and performing laboratory duties, you'll play a key role in helping our team deliver remarkable healthcare. Location: 1814 New Hanover Medical Park Dr, Wilmington, NC 28401. Department: Urology Clinic.
Responsibilities
- Build meaningful connections with patients and support their healthcare journey
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and patient care activities
- Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, and other clinical laboratory responsibilities
- Maintain accurate patient records, referrals, and EMR documentation
- Support front-office operations including scheduling, registration, and insurance verification
- Reinforce patient education and care plans to promote positive health outcomes
- Collaborate with a supportive, team-oriented healthcare environment focused on excellence
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; must be a graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program with curriculum including pharmacology and medication administration.
- Certification/registry must be obtained by the last day of the sixth month of hire, with an education agreement signed. Accepted certifications: CMA (AAMA), CCMA (NHA), RMA (AMT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), American Allied Health (AAH), and RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA).
- Alternative work experience pathways (if not already certified): supervised medical assistant experience of 1 year (NHA or NHCWA) within last 3 years; 2 years (NCCT, NAHP); 3 years (ARMA); 5 years (AMT) of the last 7 years (max 2 years as instructor); or graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing. Experience must include both clinical (including medication administration) and administrative duties.
- Previous work in a medical office preferred.
- Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA, or CCMA required.
- Ability to successfully complete generic and department‑specific skills validation and competency testing.

Schedule
FT Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, no weekends or holidays.
