About the Role
Reporting to Georgetown Prep’s Head Athletic Trainer, and in coordination with the Athletic Director, the Staff Athletic Trainer will perform and oversee the daily clinical operations and ATC duties required for the Athletic Training Facility to operate as an ambulatory care and rehabilitation clinic. The role requires working both independently and as part of the Sports Medicine Team.
Responsibilities
- Manage triage and provide clinical care to all student athletes in accordance with NATA and BOC standards, including direct care, documentation, reporting, and routine review of standing orders for immediate treatment and continuing rehabilitation of acute and non-acute student athletes.
- Coordinate with the Head Athletic Trainer for practice schedule and game coverage during the school year, including Saturday coverage, preseasons, Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring breaks, and summer sports camps hosted at Prep.
- Engage in regular collaboration and case management with the Head Athletic Trainer, Team Physicians, and Director of Strength & Conditioning.
- Engage in regular collaboration and case management with the Athletic Director, school counseling staff, Academic Dean, dorm and student life staff, other school administration, parents/guardians, students’ primary medical providers, and specialists.
- Follow Athletic Training Facility (ATF) Policy and Procedure Manual for operational and administrative duties and requirements for all ATF staff.
- Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in developing, implementing, and reviewing Emergency Action Plan policy, procedure, and clinical guidelines; maintain practice guidelines and standards of care.
- Participate in routine ATF operational duties, including inventory management, AED management, housekeeping, and competition and practice preparation.
- Perform injury management and rehabilitation for all student-related musculoskeletal and sports medicine injuries, including injury prevention, concussion care and management, triage/trauma care, post-operative care, and therapeutic exercise techniques.
- Utilize manual therapy techniques such as soft tissue mobilization and joint mobilizations; collaborate with the Academic Dean on concussion return-to-learn protocols.
- Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with CPR certification of all coaches; maintain up-to-date credentials and certifications as required.
- Participate in ongoing continuing education as required by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (50 CEUs per 2 years).
- Perform duties professionally with attention to quality care, team collaboration, open communication, organization, confidentiality laws, patient rights, and respect.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer and/or Athletic Director.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training preferred.
- Licensed or licensure eligible as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) by the State of Maryland Board of Physicians.
- Two years of Certified Athletic Training experience preferred; secondary high school experience preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication; strong organization and interpersonal skills.
- Familiar with the use and operation of a personal computer; experience with Electronic Medical Record (Magnus Health) programs preferred but not required.
- Current US driver’s license.
- Physically able to climb multiple flights of stairs throughout the workday, walk across campus, perform emergency medical care, and lift at least 75 pounds.
Pay
Salary range: $75,000–$95,000 based on experience.
