About the role
The Caswood Group is looking for a Certified Athletic Trainer for a 13 week travel contract based in Geneva, NY.
Responsibilities
- Apply principles, methods and procedures for managing athletic injuries, including preconditioning, conditioning and reconditioning of individuals who have suffered athletic injuries through the use of appropriate preventative and supportive devices
- Provide instruction to coaches, athletes, parents, medical personnel and community in the area of care and prevention of athletic injuries
- Work in school systems and in a physician or hospital clinic to support patient care
- Provide coverage to sporting events as agreed upon by the Health System contract and based upon the schedule prepared by the hiring organization
- Provide coverage for home contests on a schedule determined by the hiring organization, the athletic trainer and the athletic director
- Cover most varsity contests and selected non-varsity contests based on the needs of the school and risk in the sport, including post-session contests as determined by the athletic director
- Provide practice coverage as determined by the athletic trainer and athletic director of varsity and non-varsity sports
- Apply protective tapings, wraps and braces for prevention of athletic injuries, and assist in the design of practices to help reduce the incidence of injury
- Conduct workshops for staff as needed concerning injury prevention, CPR, injury recognition, treatment and injury rehabilitation
- Assist physical therapists or physicians in the flow of patient care by keeping equipment in order, changing linen, and assisting with bracing and splinting
- Market the athletic training program and Client Health System within the school district and medical community through flyers, brochures and media contacts
Requirements
- NATABOC Certification
- BLS Certification (AHA)
- Minimum 21 years of age or older (per NYS Regulations)
Qualifications
- Preferred: 1-2 years experience as an Athletic Trainer in a high school and/or physician practice setting
Schedule
- Full time (5x8s) - exact shift will vary based on school schedule, discussed further in interview
- Monday through Friday, occasionally Saturdays
- Will cover at local high schools in Geneva and Dundee primarily, with possible coverage at Penn Yan/Mynderse
