CDOC- Technician III (Library Technician) CCF
About the role
This position is under the direction of a Regional Librarian, Programs Manager and Programs Supervisor, supervise the daily operation of a library in an adult correctional facility serving offenders of multiple classification levels.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and administrative support to one or more work units
- Supervise day-to-day general library operations
- In cooperation with the assigned regional librarian and facility programs manager, plan library services, including programs and budgetary needs
- Recommend materials for addition to the library collection to meet the educational, informational and recreational needs of the offender population
- Supervise library clerks: assign tasks to library clerks, monitor progress and workflow, schedule work, establish work standards, and check the final product
- Perform library computer functions: maintain currency and accuracy of patron and material records in the integrated library system (ILS), ensuring the catalog is compliant with library standards by and determining what changes and edits are made to bibliographic records
- Access the Internet and use information literacy skills to respond to reference questions
- Access Ingram ipage (online book selection and ordering tool) to locate and evaluate materials for selection
- Perform interlibrary loan functions, utilize the Colorado Correctional Libraries Intranet to locate library procedures, resources, check with other DOC library staff, and interpret guidelines based upon the given circumstances of a situation
- Monitor behavior of offender library users, enforce security regulations and library rules, call for the ejection of problem offenders, write reports on rule infractions, and act on resolving conflicts between offenders
- Compose and distribute monthly narrative and statistical reports
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Three years of *technical or **high-level clerical experience. (This experience must be clearly described, in your own words, within the work experience section of your application to meet this requirement.) Technical work is skilled work in the practical application of specialized techniques, procedures, practices, or methods in order to accomplish tasks. The specialized work is a direct extension of a professional field which requires an understanding of that field in order to carry out the practical nature of the work.
High-Level clerical experience includes the following: document creation, word processing; creating and revising office procedures; compiling and formatting the content for program materials such as annual reports and newsletters; screening documents and supporting information to determine eligibility, authenticity, or identity; accounting for the unit's allotted funds by authorizing operating expenditures.
Note: Retail, food service or call center customer service is not in an office support environment and will not be given credit toward the minimum requirements.
Or A combination of College, university or non-correspondence school course and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to three (3) years. A copy of your unofficial college transcript with your name, institution name, degree and date conferred must be attached to your application to verify your education.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge and proven work experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access) and Google Applications (Drive, Sheets, Docs, and Forms)
- Progressive experience working in a fast-paced customers-oriented environment with a focus on delivering a high level of customer service
- Experience completing multiple projects simultaneously with on-going, frequent, deadlines
- Proven quality assurance experience, monitoring work, checking for errors and verifying accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
