Security Technician III at CCA
About the role
This full-time position is located in the Security Department at the Community College of Aurora. Campus Safety Officers provide safety and security for the 5 campus buildings and parking lots, assisting the campus community with a wide variety of problems and concerns, providing first response to campus emergencies and disruptions, and crowd and traffic control.
Responsibilities
- Patrol campus and all College buildings and facilities on foot or by other means (i.e. patrol car, bicycle, etc.) and provide stationary security post duties as assigned.
- Respond to all calls for service directed by radio, telephone and/or supervisory and management personnel of the Security Department.
- Assume control of situations on campus until emergency responders arrive.
- Provide initial response to emergencies and incidents on campus and complete initial investigations to determine disposition.
- Write complete, accurate and timely reports to record campus incidents and document investigations and maintains logs relating to activity on campus.
- Enforce all College rules and regulations on College properties owned or leased as specified in Standard Operating Procedures.
- Issue campus parking tickets.
- Ensure standard response protocol is current and accurate and update as needed.
- Respond and manage all types of emergencies until the arrival of outside agencies.
- Maintain required certifications in emergency response areas as required by the College and federal or state law or regulation.
- Exercise proper care and maintenance of all College owned or leased equipment including vehicles assigned to or utilized for duty.
- Use special equipment such as a taser, pepper spray, handcuffs, and ASIST training within six months of appointment and provide documentation.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Experience Only: Three (3) years of work experience in security, campus safety or law enforcement as the primary function of the job.
Education And Experience: College, university or non-correspondence business school course work from an accredited institution in Law Enforcement or similar field may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis. Conditions of Employment
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license to operate campus vehicles.
- Must be able to obtain the First Aid/CPR/AED certification within six (6) months of hire if not already certified.
- Must submit to and successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment background check, physical, agility and drug test.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must be able to perform this level of physical exertion and essential functions in order to be considered for this position.
