Job Summary
Library Systems and Services is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, and service-oriented Library Associate for the Homestead Cybrarium located in Homestead, FL. This Part-time Library Associate plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the Library. Under direction from management, the Library Associate performs a variety of moderately complex technical and paraprofessional duties in support of various functions of the library; primarily staff and technology support as well as providing excellent customer service to library patrons.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate with LS&S IT staff to resolve IT related issues, and communicate with them utilizing IT Tickets, email, phone, and meetings as necessary
- Manage virtual reality (VR) service: including equipment maintenance, program development, training, and general use
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and network-related problems encountered by end-users
- Use established tracking systems to log requests; monitor progress, track problem resolution, identify patterns of failure, research bug fixes, and implement solutions
- Advise management regarding technology issues, needs, assessments, and continuous improvements
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of processes and procedures
- Track and report relevant monthly statistics, including website visits, computer use, electronic collections, and virtual reality use
- Aiding patron with makerspace equipment and makerspace kits 2-4 hours per week
- Provide IT assistance and trainings for the team to successfully carry out computer basics, coding and technology related programs
- Assisting with computer basics outreaches or additional outreaches as needed
- Create circulations related troubleshooting guides for printers, common software and additional programs
- Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records
- Know and understand the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library.
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Three years library experience preferred
- One-year supervisory experience preferred
- Proficiency with library systems and databases
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Multilingual speaking is a plus
- A high degree of proficiency in MS Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint is desired
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work a regular schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings and weekends
