About the Role

The Technology Associate will serve as the first point of contact for all technology hardware and software-related help desk issues, manage installations and repairs for network systems, and support school-level operations across three locations. This role will also contribute to technology planning discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Help Desk Support
    • Manage and respond to staff support requests through Freshdesk.
    • Provide ongoing advice and troubleshooting for hardware/software issues to staff and families.
    • Support information and database systems used within the organization.
    • Assist leaders with technology, software, or applications for professional development presentations.
    • Provide training on technology curriculum and equipment in classrooms.
    • Ensure students and staff have access to digital platforms and software.
  • Network & Hardware Management
    • Maintain hardware inventory at each school location.
    • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues with classroom technology, including Promethean boards, document cameras, VoIP phones, and other instructional tools.
    • Oversee annual cleaning and repair of devices.
    • Manage on/off-boarding procedures for employees and students, including training on hardware and software.
    • Prepare hardware for on-site computer-based testing.
    • Communicate with third-party vendors to troubleshoot network repairs.
    • Evaluate and improve network performance.
    • Provide technical support for printers, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Support School Level Data Systems
    • Perform data entry and administration tasks within the Student Information System (SIS).
    • Support operations teams with data compliance checks and audits of student information systems.
    • Collaborate with systems administrators on essential implementations or upgrades.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Technology Manager.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technology position, overseeing help desk, hardware, and network issues.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs.
  • Knowledge of various hardware operating systems, including Windows and Chromebooks.
  • Willingness to travel to all school locations (East Harlem, Bronx, and Upper Manhattan).
  • Completion and clearance of pre-employment fingerprinting and reference checks.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship for a visa.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in a technology position, overseeing help desk, hardware, and network issues.
  • Experience with network planning and general network best practices.
  • Experience with SaaS and Student Information Systems, preferably PowerSchool.
  • Familiarity with advanced spreadsheet functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP) and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, Tableau).
  • Experience with Linkit!, i-Ready, and the NYSTP (New York State Testing Program).
  • Strong time and task management skills, with the ability to prioritize and follow through on multiple initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment; flexible and able to work autonomously or as part of a team.
  • Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of network, server, and cloud protocols.

Schedule

  • 12-month work schedule.
  • In-person availability with travel between three school locations (East Harlem, Bronx, and Upper Manhattan) as needed.

Work Environment

Regularly required to sit, stand for long periods, walk, climb stairs, speak clearly, and operate computers and other equipment. Must occasionally lift, move, or support up to 20 pounds. Work is performed in a traditional multi-floor school environment with limited or no elevator access.

Pay

The expected salary range for this role is $58,500 - $62,063, depending on verified relevant work experience, highest level of completed education, and required certifications/licenses. This is an exempt position.
