CDL B Driver (Local)

About the role

We are hiring a CDL B Driver in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This position involves loading, unloading, and returning compressed gas cylinders and Dewars while frequently connecting with Airgas customers. The position requires a valid Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT and Airbrake endorsements, along with appropriate licenses and medical certifications.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company provided CDL B vehicle.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders, Dewars & supplies.
• Nurture courteous & professional relationships with customers.
• Safely secure and unsecure cylinders.
• Complete deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart.
• Support deliveries in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Valid Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT (or able to obtain within 60 days from hire date) & Airbrake endorsements.
• Maintain appropriate driver’s license, medical card & endorsements.
• No more than two (2) traffic convictions: OR two (2) at-fault accident in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years.
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years.
• Able to work in a drug-free environment.
• Able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment.
• Must have 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or be able to provide proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months.

Qualifications

• Required qualifications include a valid Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT and Airbrake endorsements, appropriate licenses and medical certifications, no more than two (2) traffic convictions, no driving under the influence within the last seven (7) years, ability to work in a drug-free environment, and ability to lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment.
• Preferred qualifications include forklift experience.
