About the role
The successful candidate will assist physicians with patient care, perform administrative tasks, and provide excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with patient care, including collecting, processing routine tests, and returning results to doctors.
- Provide good customer service on the phone, with patients, doctors, and other medical staff.
- Work well under pressure and prioritize tasks.
- Perform CLIA waived moderate testing.
- Handle patient referrals, pull charts, file documents, clean and wrap instruments, stock rooms, reconcile labs, room patients, take vitals, and gather patient histories.
- Manage patient connections, eligibility checks, collection calls, prior authorizations, check-in/check-out at the front desk, collect pertinent information, and process payments.
- Answer phones, post charges, some coding/billing, manage medical records, perform blood draws, and administer injections.
- Provide direct and indirect patient care in the clinic setting, communicate with providers/nurse manager/co-workers about patient conditions, and respond quickly to changes in condition or treatment responses.
- May have inventory/ordering responsibilities and cross-train in additional clinic responsibilities such as laboratory rapid assays, reception, and radiographic studies.
Qualifications
- 6 months medical experience, 2-5 years clinical experience preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Can concentrate for long periods, listen, read, and remember verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work well with others and handle conflict issues with patients and staff.
- BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications within 60 days of hire.
- Current, unencumbered Idaho Medical Assistant Certificate.
- Current, unencumbered LPN Idaho license with associated IV therapy certification and drug administration certification within 60 days of hire.
- Able to accurately calculate drug dosing and drip rates for IV therapy.
