Job Summary
A Medical Assistant/Certified Medical Assistant/Certified Nurse Assistant will assist providers in care, medical record documentation, and treatment of patients. They will obtain and process doctors' orders, provide good customer service, and work well under pressure. An LPN will provide direct and indirect patient care, communicate with providers, manage patient conditions, and perform various clinical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients by greeting them, in person or on the phone.
- Verify patient information by interviewing, reviewing, and recording medical history.
- Prepare patients for health care visits by directing them to the exam room, providing examination gowns, arranging supplies, and ensuring all related reports, labs, and imaging are available.
- Support patient care by assisting providers during exams, drawing up medications, completing records, and relaying treatment plans to the checkout receptionist.
- Inventory and order exam room and injection station supplies, and ensure they are ready for use.
- Ensure patients receive appropriate, competent, and quality clinical care and that customer service meets patient expectations.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures, maintain strict quality control for procedures, and follow standards precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Scanning orders and lab results into electronic medical systems, printing and faxing lab reports to ordering doctors, maintaining Point of Care documents, and performing Quality Control management.
- Provide good customer service on the phone and in person to anyone entering the laboratory.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks that promote smooth operations.
Qualifications
- Education/Certification: Graduation from an accredited high school program or higher. Current BLS certification. Valid drivers license. CMA or CNA license.
- Experience: CMA course preferred, not required. Phlebotomy course and experience. 6 months required experience, 2-5 years clinical experience preferred.
- Equipment/Technology: Experience with computers and office equipment.
- Language/Communication: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Bilingual is a plus. Understanding of medical terminology.
