Catholic Substitute Teacher

About the role

We are seeking a part-time Substitute Teacher to teach in a classical and Catholic classroom for up to 13 hours per week at our center in Omaha, Nebraska. The substitute is called as needed when staff are out sick, but you may decline if unavailable on a particular day. No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required; we will provide all necessary training.

Regina Caeli Academy (RCA) is a classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. Childcare/nursery is provided.

Responsibilities

• Follow clear instructions to guide students in the classroom.
• Provide instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards.
• Adhere to provided curriculum and grading guidelines.

Qualifications

• Deep love for the Catholic faith and ability to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church.
• Living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all sacraments appropriate to your state in life.
• Strong communication skills, good organization, timeliness, and a traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
• Experience homeschooling, working with homeschooled children, ministry in a Catholic parish, teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes, teaching your own children, or teaching in a classical or private school (preferred but not required).

Requirements

• Complete a background check before teaching at RCA.
• Complete a couple of virtual staff training modules at home prior to teaching.
• Complete mandatory training before working in the classroom.

Schedule

• Part-time, up to 13 hours per week.
• Called as needed (can decline if unavailable).
• Possible substitute hours: Mondays and Thursdays, 8:45 AM – 3:15 PM.
• No additional vacation days (accommodations made for sick days as needed).
