Catholic Middle/High School Latin Teacher

Regina Caeli Academy is seeking a part-time Catholic Middle/High School Latin teacher to teach in a classical and Catholic classroom for up to 4 afternoon hours per week at our center in Lapeer, Michigan.

About the role

Regina Caeli Academy (RCA) is a classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. Positions are hourly, and childcare/nursery is provided. Curriculum and grading guidelines are provided, and tutors are trained to deliver instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards.

Lesson plans and curriculum are provided, but teachers must prepare for classes at home and come ready to teach in a highly structured environment. No teaching certification or formal experience is required—we will teach you everything you need to know.

Responsibilities

• Teach Latin to middle and high school students in a classical, Catholic classroom setting
• Prepare for classes at home and deliver instruction in a structured environment
• Follow provided curriculum and grading guidelines
• Adhere to RCA’s classroom management and instructional standards

Requirements

• Deep love for the Catholic faith and ability to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church
• Living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all sacraments appropriate to your state in life
• Strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness
• Traditional view of the student/teacher relationship
• Standard computer skills (Google Suite or equivalent preferred)
• Clear background check (required for all staff)

Qualifications

While not required, the ideal applicant may have experience in one or more of the following:

• Homeschooling or working with homeschool children
• Ministry in a Catholic parish
• Teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes
• Teaching your own children
• Teaching in a classical or private school

Schedule

• Mondays and Thursdays, 9:30 AM – 4:15 PM
• Up to 4 afternoon teaching hours per week
• No additional vacation days (accommodations made for sick days as needed; see RCA’s Vacation and Holy Days policy)
