Catholic Middle/High School Teacher

About the Role

We are seeking a part-time middle/high school teacher to teach Biology and General Science in a classical and Catholic classroom at our Brookfield, CT location for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Regina Caeli Academy (RCA) is a classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. The position is hourly, and childcare/nursery is provided for staff.

Responsibilities

• Teach Biology and General Science classes in a structured, Socratic classroom environment.
• Prepare for classes at home and follow provided lesson plans.
• Implement classroom management according to RCA standards.
• Adhere to curriculum and grading guidelines provided by RCA.

Requirements

• Deep love for the Catholic faith and ability to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church.
• Living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all sacraments appropriate to your state in life.
• Strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness.
• Traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
• Must attend 3 days of training on August 10, 11, and 12, 2026 (8am-5pm; no childcare provided, nursing babies welcome).
• Complete a background check and RCA Safe Child training prior to teaching.

Qualifications

No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required. The ideal applicant may have experience in any of the following:

• Homeschooling or working with homeschool children.
• Ministry in a Catholic parish.
• Teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes.
• Teaching your own children.
• Teaching in a classical or private school (though not required).

Schedule

• Class hours: Mondays and Thursdays, 1:15 pm - 3:15 pm.
• Additional time required for class preparation at home.
