Category Sales Specialist - Valve & Automation
About the role
Ferguson, a Fortune 500 company, is seeking an Industrial Category Sales Specialist to join its Southwest District. This role requires a combination of industry knowledge, technical expertise, and strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Possess and develop relationships with industrial end users to prospect and develop new Valve and Automation business.
- Manage relationships with existing customers, using technical knowledge to grow sales in the Intentional Product category.
- Provide feedback to sales leadership on trends, market acceptance of products, and overall performance.
- Support outside sales team for Valve Automation products, as well as other engineered products.
- Interact and develop relationships with key vendors to support sales at accounts in your market.
- Work with inside sales team and valve technicians.
- Be a great teammate, growing others to support you.
- Present Valve Automation quotes and proposals to customers and engineering offices.
- Develop and manage relationships with engineering offices to drive product specification.
Qualifications
- Industry knowledge and experience are essential for success in this role.
- A successful Category Sales Specialist will be goal-driven, motivated, team-oriented, and able to build new relationships to grow sales.
- Three to five years of experience in selling Valve & Automation or other engineered products is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail, integrity, problem-solving, leadership, and listening skills are necessary.
- The ability to organize and prioritize work, operate computers, tablets, and mobile devices, overcome objections, and manage customer expectations is important.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) is beneficial.

Pay and Schedule
The starting wage for this role ranges from $4,124.70 to $9,529.30 per month, depending on location and state requirements. This role is also eligible for bonuses or incentives.
