Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial integrity, accuracy, and compliance of the Lodge's financial operations. Based in the Arusha Office, the position oversees core accounting activities and financial controls, with a specific focus on payroll and taxation.
Responsibilities
- Oversee core accounting activities, financial controls, month-end processes, and financial reporting.
- Manage payroll processing, taxation, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Ensure proper execution of financial reconciliations and identify risks or opportunities to strengthen internal controls.
- Support the development and coaching of the Finance team.
- Partner across departments with operational and leadership teams to provide accurate financial insights for business decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in accounting or finance operations, preferably within hospitality or a complex operational environment.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with payroll management, taxation, statutory compliance, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and month-end/year-end closing procedures.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial/accounting systems.
- Excellent written and spoken English proficiency.
Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualifications such as CPA (T), ACCA, CMA, or equivalent internationally recognized certifications are strongly preferred. (Candidates actively pursuing advanced professional certifications may also be considered based on experience and progression).
