Career Coach, Business Career Services

About the role

The BCS Career Coach serves as a key point of contact for business students within the Warrington College of Business in providing career planning, advising, and coaching assistance, and will be instrumental in the direct placement of our business students into internships and full-time employment.

Responsibilities

  • One-on-one career advising and broad-based career management support
  • Aid in maintaining quantitative and qualitative records for various types of interactions for assessment and reporting purposes
  • Create and deliver career development workshops/seminars for both large and small groups of business students
  • Partner with Career and Peer Mentor (CAP) team to facilitate external career development programming
  • Collaborate with Business College Council (BCC) inclusive of outreach and advising student organizations
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of experiential learning trends and best practices
  • Maintain relationships with Heavener academic advising team to increase student engagement with BCS and to collaborate on successful student outcomes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience
  • Strong customer focus (ability to listen attentively to students and recruiters and to understand and respond positively to their requests is required)
  • Experience working inclusively with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of industry relations, employment trends, student development, career services a plus
  • Ability to work independently along with the ability to work collaboratively across the team
  • An entrepreneurial orientation, proven track record of taking initiative and making things happen (i.e. self-starter)
  • Excellent resume, interviewing and job search skills
  • Highly proficient with web-based resources, spreadsheet and presentation software required (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Excel)
  • Ability to work under pressure, with the flexibility to respond to changing priorities and fluctuating workloads
  • Strong organizational work skills, defining tasks, prioritizing assignments, and following through on all projects independently
